EPCOS AG is shipping in production quantities a UMTS duplexer for the W-CDMA bands V/VI, which features a footprint of 2.5mm x 2mm and a flat insertion height of 0.5mm.

EPCOS will introduce duplexers in this latest size generation for all other current W-CDMA bands in subsequent months as its customers ramp mobile-phone production. EPCOS produces the complete spectrum of duplexers for W-CDMA in the compact SAW and BAW technology.

Duplexers combine a transmit and receive filter in a single module and enable the transmit and receive paths to operate simultaneously. Duplexers enable co-banding, or the common use of one band in two different mobile telephone standards in one component.
