Avago Technologies Ltd has introduced an automotive-grade optocoupler for the hybrid electric vehicle market. The automotive-grade ACPL-M46T is a 1MBd intelligent power module (IPM) digital interface optocoupler that touts high reliability, high performance, ease of integration and excellent heat dissipation.

The ACPL-M46T requires a low input 10mA LED drive current that provides longer operating life and performance specified for automotive IPM applications over a wide temperature range of -40?C to 125?C. The optocoupler is qualified to meet automotive AEC-Q100 semiconductor stress test guidelines.

The ACPL-M46T also delivers a maximum propagation delay difference that enables a circuit designer to reduce switching dead time and improve inverter efficiency. In addition, the optocoupler offers a common mode rejection rate of 15kV per microsecond at VCM=1500V, which prevents erroneous driving of the IPM interface and ensures reliable operation under noisy operating environments.

The automotive-grade digital optocoupler is RoHS-compliant and comes housed in a surface-mount, SO-5 package. This IPM optocoupler uses an enhanced wire bonding processes and an improved lead frame for added reliability and better heat dissipation.

Pricing starts at $2.38 each in quantities of 10,000.
