Filtronic plc has announced that it is in negotiations for the sale of its compound semiconductors division.

The announcement did not name the buyer of the entire issued share capital of U.K.-based Filtronic Compound Semiconductors Ltd, but it reports that Filtronic will not receive any preliminary payment, and will be paid depending on whether the division reaches performance targets.

Filtronic Compound Semiconductor operates a high-yield, high-volume 6-inch GaAs fabrication facility at Newton Aycliffe, England. It manufactures a line of pseudomorphic High Electron Mobility Transistors (pHEMT) including discrete pHEMT devices for low-noise and medium-power applications in the 0.5-18GHz frequency range, available as bare die or packaged, discrete MMIC devices for a broad range of applications from 0.5-40GHz, and an expanding range of switches providing such gate and pole options as SPDT, SP3T, SP4T with future switch options of SP5T and SP6T.
