RFMD supplies EDGE power amps for Huawei 3G handsets

RF Micro Devices (RFMD) is deploying its RF3161 quad-band large signal polar modulation (LSPM) EDGE power amplifier (PA) module to Huawei Technologies for the latter's U120E 3G multimode (UMTS/EDGE) handset ramp.

The U120E is the successor to Huawei's high-volume U120 handset, which featured RFMD's RF3166 PowerStar PA. The RF3161, packed in 6mm x 6mm x 1mm, is said to be the smallest and thinnest EDGE PA in production and designed to support all major merchant market 3G multimode handset platforms implementing LSPM EDGE transmit architectures.
