Peking University, Spreadtrum open joint lab

Peking University (PKU) and Spreadtrum Communications have opened a new joint laboratory at the university's Shanghai Research Institute of MicroElectronics (SHRIME) located at the Zhangjiang Technology Park, Pudong, Shanghai.
The unveiling ceremony last week was attended by representatives from the Shanghai Integrated Circuit Industry Association, Pudong Science and Technology Commission and Shanghai Zhangjiang (Group) Co. Ltd. Also present were Yuhua Cheng, a dean and professor at SHRIME, Ping Wu, Spreadtrum CEO, and Yangyuan Wang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a professor at Peking University.
In a speech, Wu said the establishment of PKU-Spreadtrum Joint Laboratory should strengthen the cooperation between Spreadtrum and PKU in the commercialization of PKU's education and research. Setting up the joint laboratory would push the development of IC design technology and cultivate more senior talents for China's IC industry.
Yangyuan said that the setup of the PKU-Spreadtrum Joint Laboratory will greatly influence the development of China's IC industry. He further expressed confidence that the cooperation between the PKU and Spreadtrum will contribute to driving the industry to the next level.
