Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd has announced a series of dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) small form factor pluggable (SFP) transceivers.
The new DWDM SFP, SCP9FB8 series, is designed to support 3,200ps/nm and a distance of 160km by adapting the laser driver with low chirp characteristics and optimizing the drive current. Previous 160km transmission dispersion tolerance was 2,400ps/nm. The conventional models can be deployed in data links with spans of up to 120km.
SCP9FB8 series features improved value of dispersion tolerance from 2,400ps/nm to 3,200ps/nm by adopting of laser diode with the low chirp characteristic and optimizing the laser diode driving current; Variable Decision Threshold (VDT) function that reshapes the received waveform by optimizing logical judgment threshold level by way of I?C; and full RoHS compliance.
