Keywords:Tyco Electronics? fiber optic connector? ODC cable assemblies?

Tyco Electronics Corp. has inked an agreement with HUBER+SUHNER to become an alternative source for ODC fiber-optic connectors and cable assemblies. The ODC connector and supporting optical cable are becoming the standard connector interface specified in 3G, 4G and WiMAX base station remote radios and fiber-to-the-antenna applications, said Tyco.

Tyco Electronics and the HUBER+SUHNER Group will work together to expand the ODC product line. The ODC product range incorporates precision-machined rugged brass housings with two or four optical terminations in both single-mode and multimode fiber. The environmentally sealed, fixed and free connectors are supported by a range of highly crush resistant, high tensile strength "tactical" style cables.

Tyco Electronics will supply ODC cable assemblies starting this month, following compatibility and interoperability qualification with HUBER+SUHNER.
