Marvell Technology Group Ltd will demonstrate its latest consumer and communications silicon at this week's Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Products on display include its smart digital green technology, video processing and 802.11n WLAN solutions.

Marvell will display its digital power factor correction (PFC) controllers, the 88EM8041 and 88EM8011, designed to cut energy usage in notebook power adapters and desktop power supplies by up to 50 percent and reduce the carbon footprint for consumer electronics. The PFC controllers also eliminate up to 20 discrete components, which helps reduce design complexity, increase reliability and drive down manufacturing costs as well as size, said Marvell.

Marvell is also highlighting its latest Wi-Fi products, the Marvell TopDog 11n-450, which the company claims is the industry's first 450Mbit/s 802.11n WLAN solution. Used for wireless transmissions in notebook and desktop PCs, printers, routers, STBs, DTVs, gaming devices, and DVD players and recorders, the TopDog 11n-450 is 150 percent faster than previous 802.11n solutions running at 300Mbit/s and is said to increase the wireless transmission range by 160 percent.

In addition, Marvell will receive The Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity "Best of 2007 Video Processing Technology Award" at CES for its Qdeo video processing technology. Qdeo delivers high-definition video through a suite of advanced processing technologies. Unlike conventional video processors, Qdeo offers high-quality video for the entire source, display and content options today ranging from portable media players (PMPs) to widescreen HDTVs, said Marvell. The technology will be demonstrated in a host of products including a dual-format HD-DVD and Blu-ray player, a HD video docking station for portable media players and a LCD-TV reference design.

Marvell will showcase its full product portfolio including cellular, storage and Ethernet products at CES in the South Hall.
