Matsushita, Google team to deliver Internet TV

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. and Google Inc. are teaming up to launch services allowing users to watch Internet pictures and videos on TV, according to the JCN Network.

Matsushita officials disclosed that the charge-free services will start in the United States in Q2, in time with the launch the company's Viera series of plasma panel TVs equipped with the newly developed image-processing system large-scale ICs.

The new service will allow consumers watch high-quality photo images shown on Google's Picasa Web album and videos posted on the video-sharing Website of the major Internet search engine's YouTube unit on the TV screen.

Matsushita offers fee-based Internet TV service, acTVila, in Japan with Sony Corp. and some other domestic electronics makers.
