Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) received top citation from the industry for its new PowerPC 405EX embedded processor. The PowerPC 405EX was recognized for its capabilities such as 900+ DMIPs performance, sub-2-W power dissipation, and an integrated hardware security engine that supports IPSec, SSL, and DTLS protocols. Moreover, even with a price tag of under $17, the embedded processor carries dual PCIe ports, dual GbE MACs, up to 484Mbit/s USB 2.0. The PPC405EX is designed for the next-generation WLAN applications that require exceptional performance, small foot print and low power, says AMCC.
