The upgraded version of Agilent Technologies Inc.'s 89600 Series vector signal analysis (VSA) software can now interface with Acqiris 10bit and 12bit CompactPCI broadband digitizers, enabling significantly increased data-measurement accuracy.

The newly released version 8.0 of the Agilent 89601A VSA software provides fast data transfers from the digitizers to the host, which reduces measurement times and maximizes user productivity, said Agilent. It also provides a host of development tools to assist system engineers in troubleshooting and evaluating broadband signals.

The 10bit digitizersthe DC222, DC252 and DC282offer a bandwidth of up to 2GHz and a very large memory of up to 1GS in single-channel mode. Dual-channel mode offers enhanced measurement performance with up to 512MS of data acquired per channel at a bandwidth up to 1.5625GHz. The large bandwidth combined with expansive memory make these digitizers suitable for applications in radar, UWB communication and multicarrier power amplifier (MCPA) evaluation.

For smaller bandwidth applications requiring 12bit vertical resolution, Agilent offers the dual-channel DC440 and DC438. This digitizer family is said to offer excellent signal-to-noise ratio, a high number of effective bits at a bandwidth of up to 100MHz and up to 8MS of memory in both single- and dual-channel modes. The digitizers are suitable for applications that require very high dynamic range broadband analysis such as LIDAR and I/Q demodulation.

The Agilent VSA software runs on either an embedded CompactPCI PC or on a PC connected via a PCI bridge to the external cPCI crate. With its link to the Agilent Acqiris CompactPCI high-speed digitizers, VSA 8.0 extends its number of supported platforms to more than 30 Agilent instruments and adds the PCI bus as a new bus supported by the software.

The price of the 10bit digitizer starts at $23,710 and $8,200 for the 12bit digitizer.
