Fairchild Semiconductor has set up an R&D center in Pune, India dedicated to the development of next-generation power MOSFETs and IGBT technology for applications such as solar inverters, UPS, automotive, lighting and ballast applications.
The Indian design center is staffed by electrical engineers with extensive design experience and a thorough understanding of the requirements for power designs, in particular low-voltage power. The Pune location was chosen due to its proximity to several engineering colleges and educational institutions, and because it is home to research institutions that supplement higher education. Pune also has a very strong presence in the automobile sector.
The company offers a comprehensive portfolio of products, from 1W to >1,200W, to address the need for energy-efficient products, driven by the dwindling supply of fuel and the emergence of new regulations and standards mandating energy efficiency in a wide range of applications.
