Waterproof connector has one-touch bayonet lock

Omron Electronic Components LLC has introduced a new series of IP67-rated circular industrial connectors that feature a one-touch bayonet locking system, which enables connection in just 1/8th of a turn. The integrity of the circuit connection is said to be a significant improvement compared to traditional screw-style connectors due to an audible click indicating complete insertion.

Available in plug or socket versions, the XS5 series connectors are suitable for industrial applications. The XS5 series plastic shell connectors feature four circuits with a contact rating of 4A at 250V_ac (A version) or DC (D version) and will mate with existing screw-type M12 styles. Cable assembly versions include the XS5F single-ended socket, the XS5H single-ended plug, and the XF5W double-ended socket/plug in lengths from 1m to 10m.

The XS5 series also offers several end-system assembly advantages including reduced connection time (cut 90 percent compared to screw styles), less fatigue by the assembler, and easier "blind mating", said Omron. The connectors also provide optimum seal performance when compared to screw styles because the chance of over or under tightening seals has been eliminated with the new locking system.

In quantities of 1,000, the MSRP for the XS5F series (1m cable) is $5.579; XS5H series (1m cable) is $5.579; XS5W series (1m cable) is $9.708 and the XS5F series (1m cable) is $6.9653. Delivery is stock to eight weeks.
