The industry is abuzz with speculations that Microsoft is crafting a plan to oust Yahoo's board of directors after the latter rejected Microsoft's $44.6 billion takeover offer last week.

Calling these developments as "negotiation through the media" or "a sign that Microsoft plans to take Yahoo by force," AFP cited a report by the The New York Times that Microsoft will try to nominate replacements for all 10 members of Yahoo's board of directors, who are up for reelection at Yahoo's annual meeting in June, if the search engine company doesn't enter into merger talks soon.

Microsoft has declined to comment on the report.

Meanwhile, Bill Gates, Microsoft executive chairman, said in an interview with AP that his company's $31-per-shape offer for Yahoo was fair and that Yahoo "should take a hard look at it." Gates likewise indicated that Microsoft is not raising its bid.
