Micropower precision amps promise 'lowest' TCVOS

National Semiconductor Corp. has launched a family of micropower precision amplifiers with guaranteed maximum offset voltage drift over temperature (TCVOS) as low as 0.4?V/C. These op amps promise the industry's lowest TCVOS, along with low offset voltage, low quiescent current and low bias current to enable a high level of system accuracy, extended battery life and long-term stability in portable systems and battery-powered sensor interface products.

The LMP2231 single, LMP2232 dual and LMP2234 quad micropower op amps feature CMOS inputs, 1.6V to 5.5V operation, 10?A of supply current per channel, low offset voltage of 150?V and a wide temperature range of -40C to 125C. All three op amps feature ultra-low power consumption of less than 16?W per channel, while providing 130kHz of usable bandwidth.

The LMP2231 single micropower, precision amplifier provides quiescent power consumption of only 16?W. The device features a maximum offset of 150?V, along with a maximum offset voltage drift of 0.4?V/C and low bias current of 20fA. Its rail-to-rail output swings 15mV from the supply voltage to increase system dynamic range. The common-mode input voltage range extends 200mV below the negative supply, making the device well-suited for use in single-supply applications with ground sensing. The LMP2231 is offered in 5-pin SOT23 and 8-pin SOIC packages.

The LMP2232 dual micropower, precision amplifier provides quiescent power consumption of only 13?W per channel. The device provides a maximum offset voltage of 150?V, along with a maximum offset voltage drift of 0.5?V/C and low bias current of 20fA. The LMP2232 is offered in 8-pin SOIC or 8-pin MSOP packages. The LMP2234 quad micropower, precision amplifier provides quiescent power consumption of only 12?W per channel. The device supplies a maximum offset voltage of 150?V, along with a maximum offset voltage drift of 0.75?V/C and low bias current of 20fA. The LMP2234 is offered in 14-pin SOIC or 14-pin TSSOP packages.

The new LMP precision op amps are built on National's proprietary VIP50 BiCMOS process technology. The VIP50 process allows National to design higher performance precision op amps, along with the most power-efficient, low-voltage amplifiers.

Pricing: All three products are available now with prices ranging from $1.10 to $2.35 in quantities of 1,000.
