Japan's Fair Trade Commission last week conducted an on-site inspection of the offices and outlets of Sharp Corp. and Hitachi Displays Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd, on suspicion that these companies had rigged the prices of displays for Nintendo's portable game consoles, according to AFP.
Nintendo has confirmed that Sharp and Hitachi Display are currently the only suppliers of the 7.5cm panel for its popular Nintendo DS and DS Lite consoles, but denied knowledge of the allegations against the two suppliers. It was not confirmed whether it was Nintendo that filed a complaint with the Commission on the alleged price fixing.
