Sony, Samsung rev up LCD production at JV firm

Sony Corp. and Samsung Electronics Co. will invest $1.9 billion to boost LCD panel production in their joint venture firm S-CLD Corp. This is according to Agence France-Presse report, which quoted the Nikkei news agency as saying that the companies have reached a basic deal to split the cost of investment evenly.
The agreement reaffirms Sony's commitment to its alliance with Samsung, even with the Japanese company's recent LCD tie-up with Sharp Corp.
