Rohm Co. Ltd has developed the IA2002-CE10A image sensor head with a reading width of 54mm for card scanning applications.

The head delivers lower power consumption compared to CCD systems and offers greater versatility. Suitable for security authentication and reading of rewritable cards, the IA2002-CE10A uses a special ceramic substrate promising excellent dimensional precision and heat dissipation characteristics, resulting in superior temperature resistance for stable reading, even under continuous use.

Additional features include a proprietary prism for uniform light exposure, reducing optical power loss. RGB LEDs used in the light source enable color reading, and power consumption is minimized due to 3.3V supply voltage operation.

The external structure was specifically developed to support bidirectional scanning, allowing for greater design flexibility.

A monochrome reading speed of 635mm-per-second is possible.

Samples are available, with mass production scheduled to begin in April 2008. Sample price is $55.
