Mobile phone operators in India are seeking talks with Research in Motion (RIM) to discuss government security concerns that a newspaper said could lead to the termination of BlackBerry services in the country, according to a Reuters report.

Citing unnamed sources, the Business Standard newspaper reported that India security agencies want RIM to provide access to algorithms to decrypt messages, or face a termination of the service at the end of March.

T.V. Ramachandran, director general of the nine-member Cellular Operators' Association of India, disclosed to the group has met with the government more than once and that they are trying to set up a dialogue again. He added that the Indian government wants some security concerns to be addressed and the association is seeking an effective dialogue with the security agencies and the department of telecommunications.

A RIM spokesperson in Hong Kong commented that the company, which operates in more than 130 countries, respects the regulatory requirements of governments.
