Vishay Intertechnology Inc. has launched two new series of warm white power SMD LEDs that utilize InGan technology to offer low resistance and high optical power. The VLMW611 series comes in CLCC-6 package, while the VLMW621 series features the CLCC-6 flat package, which offers an industry-low height profile of 0.9mm, claims Vishay. Robust and light efficient, the devices' ceramic packages, adds the company, make them the ideal light source in applications where careful thermal management is essential. Their low thermal resistance allows handling of the additional current drive needed for maximum light output while maintaining a long service life of up to 50,000hrs.

The new LEDs are for backlighting and illumination in automotive and transport, consumer and general applications. All devices have a 140mA forward current, with a 4.3V maximum forward voltage and 650mW power dissipation. They provide an optical efficiency of 24lm/W and an ESD withstand voltage up to 1kV according to JESD22-A114-B.

The LEDs offer a 60 half-intensity angle, and are compatible with IR-reflow solder processes according to CECC 00802 and J-STD-020C. The devices are automotive qualified to AEC-Q101 and comply with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC. Preconditioned according to JEDEC Level 4 standards, the CLCC-6 and CLCC6 flat packages are Pb-free and RoHS-compliant.

Samples and production quantities of the power SMD LEDs are available, with lead times of six weeks for larger orders.
