Krasnikov joins a team comprising executives from leading semiconductor companies based in Europe that serve as advisors to the GSA board of directors on global and regional issues. The GSA was previously known as the Fabless Semiconductor Association and had operated under that name from its founding in 1994. The organization changed its name in December 2007.
Mikron is the microelectronics subsidiary of Sitronics JSC, a Russian provider of communications and consumer electronics equipment. Mikron is making use of a 0.18?M EEPROM CMOS process acquired from STMicroelectronics NV, to enter the smartcard chip business, in particular producing chips for Russian e-passports.
"By joining GSA in September 2007, we have made an important step on the way to proliferating Mikron's ICs internationally," said Krasnikov in a statement issued by the GSA. "I hope that my position on the EMEA leadership council will allow Mikron to further integrate into world microelectronics and I am looking forward to the first council meeting to be able to forge our existing partnerships and initiate new ones with global microelectronics leaders in the field of scientific and technological cooperation," he added.
GSA's EMEA leadership council also comprises:
