From Linear Technology Corp. comes the Military Plastic grade (MP-grade) version of the LTC3414, a high efficiency, 4MHz synchronous buck regulator using a constant frequency, current mode architecture. It can deliver up to 4A of continuous output current at voltages as low as 0.8V from a thermally enhanced TSSOP-20 package. It operates from an input voltage of 2.25V to 5.5V, making it ideal for both single cell Li-Ion, or NiMH applications, as well as more general-purpose fixed rail systems. The MP-grade version operates over a -55C to 125C operating junction temperature range and is guaranteed and tested across the full temperature range. The feedback voltage specification is slightly derated (0.5 percent), but the remainder of the electrical specifications are identical to the E and I grades. They are developed for use in military and aerospace applications, which are subjected to extreme ambient temperatures. The LTC3414MPFE is available in a TSSOP-20E package. Pricing starts at $8.23 each for 1,000-piece quantities.
