Drive your large LCD with PPDS

Since LCDs swayed into the TV market, demands for higher resolution, bigger panel size and deeper color have been growing rapidly. All these call for a higher data transmission frequency. However, obtaining higher transmission frequency should not compromise the reliability of the data link.

There is a need for a robust and reliable interface solution to transmit through less data lines working at higher frequency. The point-to-point interface architecture known as Point-to-Point Differential Signaling ensures reliable data transmission to the column driver from the timing controller through fewer data lines compared with the traditional multidrop architecture. STMicroelectronics' PPDS design team is currently developing ICs to transmit reliable data through only one pair of lanes for full high definition/120Hz application.
