The 0.25-inch HD CameraChip sensor provides full-frame, sub-sampled or windowed 8bit/10bit images in raw RGB format via the digital video port. The sensor delivers full-frame HD 720p (1,280 x 720) at 30fps or 800p (1,280 x 800) at 30fps with complete user control over image quality, formatting and output data transfer.
The OV9710 leverages OmniVision's proprietary OmniPixel3-HS technology in a 3?m x 3?m pixel to enable best-in-class low light performance, said the company. The low-light sensitivity of 3,300mV per Lux-second is said to enable security cameras to operate in virtually every lighting condition from bright daylight to nearly complete darkness.
The OV9710 incorporates image processing functions including: exposure control, gain control, white balance, lens correction and pixel correction. These functions are also programmable through the serial camera control bus (SCCB) interface. The device is available in a variety of Pb-free packaging options. It is capable of operating within a temperature range of -30 to 70C.
Pricing starts at $4 in large quantities. The devices are currently available in sample quantities, with volume shipments expected to begin in June.
