Cherokee International announced its 2,500W CAR2512 front end intended for low profile, 12V distributed power architecture applications, such as high-performance enterprise and service-provider switches and routers, mid- to high-end servers and storage equipment.

Packaged in a small, 1U-high footprint and measuring 1.65-inch x 4-inch x 14.88inch, the CAR2512 hits an ultrahigh power density of 25W/inch3. The CAR2512 delivers 208A, supporting 12V bus architectures that power point-of-load converters. The CAR2512 can achieve 90 percent efficiency at 20 percent of load, with a peak efficiency of 91.5 percent.

The small form factor is suitable for space-constrained applications. Up to four units can be mounted side-by-side to deliver 10,000W of power in just 1U height. Protection features on the rectifier include input over and under voltage, output overvoltage, overtemperature and overcurrent.

A microprocessor-based design allows for automatic fan speed control, which is suitable for optimizing noise levels of sensitive office-environment applications. This model is also available with full IC communications, providing intelligent monitoring and control of critical parameters.

The CAR2512 is priced at $395 in OEM quantities. Samples and low order quantities are available now.
