FDK Corp. introduces the DK series of non-isolated DC/DC converters with the release of three new products that deliver 3A of output current at power densities up to 640 Watts/cubic inch and efficiencies up to 93 percent. The DK Series converters provide high efficiency, cost-effective and complete point-of-load (POL) power solutions in very small and low profile surface mount device (SMD) packages, according to FDK.

Occupying a footprint of less than 0.3-inch?, the DK series, says FDK offer significant space savings over discrete on-board solutions at a competitive price. The converters low height of 0.134-inch makes them suitable for high-density racks, blade systems, and low-profile consumer applications.

The FPDK12S1R003PA, FPDK05S1R003PA, and FPDK05S1R003PAV converters are the first products of the DK series. They are offered in 16.7mm x 8.9mm x 3.4mm SMD package. The FPDK12S1R003PA converter operates from an 8.0-14.0Vdc input and delivers 3A of output current at a programmable output voltage range of 1.0-6.6Vdc. The FPDK05S1R003PA and the FPDK05S1R003PAV converters operate from 3.0-6.0Vdc and 4.5-5.5Vdc inputs, respectively, and deliver 3A of output current at a programmable output voltage range of 1.0-3.63Vdc. All three models feature programmable output voltage, remote ON/OFF, over-current and over-temperature protection, and a power good signal.

All DK Series products are RoHS compliant. In quantities of 1,000 pieces, the FPDK12S1R003PA, FPDK05S1R003PA, and FPDK05S1R003PAV converters sell for $3.00.
