Nokia Siemens powers mobile TV service in Singapore

Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel) has kicked off its mobile TV service using Nokia Siemens Networks' mobile TV streaming solution. This complements its mio TV service and adds another dimension to accessing quality pay TV content anytime, anywhere.

Nokia Siemens' mobile TV streaming deployment, including a mobile client application, is one of its first in Asia Pacific. SingTel will be the first mobile operator to launch this service in Singapore. A particular highlight of the new service is the user experience it offers by providing live TV channels with electronic program guide information and video-on-demand.

SingTel has chosen Nokia Siemens' Media Delivery Solution (MDS) 3.5 as its mobile TV platform. The phone application is based on Adobe's Flash Lite technology. The solution can also be extended to support various standards including video streaming (unicast), and future technologies.

The contract also includes a range of services which has allowed SingTel to rapidly start its new mobile TV offering and guarantee ongoing platform stability and quality.
