Nokia Siemens' mobile TV streaming deployment, including a mobile client application, is one of its first in Asia Pacific. SingTel will be the first mobile operator to launch this service in Singapore. A particular highlight of the new service is the user experience it offers by providing live TV channels with electronic program guide information and video-on-demand.
SingTel has chosen Nokia Siemens' Media Delivery Solution (MDS) 3.5 as its mobile TV platform. The phone application is based on Adobe's Flash Lite technology. The solution can also be extended to support various standards including video streaming (unicast), and future technologies.
The contract also includes a range of services which has allowed SingTel to rapidly start its new mobile TV offering and guarantee ongoing platform stability and quality.
"With SingTel's mio TV on mobile service, users now have the option to extend their viewing pleasure anytime, anywhere," said Wong Soon Nam, VP, consumer marketing, SingTel. With Nokia Siemens Networks' Mobile TV solution, users will enjoy the same familiarity they are used to at home and not miss their favourite shows when they are on the move."
