USB 2.0 dpdt switches promise 15kV ESD protection
Keywords:USB switch? USB 2.0? ESD protection?
To enable the use of a single connector in high-performance switching applications, these switches feature low on-resistance (5?, typ) and high 950MHz bandwidth. They also provide 15kV ESD protection (human body model) to enhance robustness without latchup or damage. Fully specified to operate from a single, 2.8V to 5.5V supply voltage, these devices are protected against 5.5V shorts to COM1 and COM2.
In addition, the devices meet all requirements for low-speed and full-speed USB, and they are fully compliant with the USB 2.0 specification of VBUS fault protection, suitable for portable applications that require high-speed switching.
The MAX4983E/MAX4984E also feature low-threshold-voltage logic outputs and a shutdown mode that reduces the quiescent supply current to 0.1?A. Operating over the -40C to 85C extended temperature range, the MAX4983E/MAX4984E are available in 2mm x 2mm, 10-pin microDFN and tiny, 1.4mm x 1.8mm, 10-pin UTQFN packages. Prices start at $1.50 (1,000-up, FOB USA).
