Integrating an I2C bootloader into a PSoC Express project

Keywords:PSoC Express application note? bootloader? I2C interface?

In a low-cost PSoC application requiring field upgradeability, bootloading can have some cost advantages over ISSP programming, especially when the bootloader communicates over an interface that is already used for other purposes in the application. PSoC Express currently does not have a bootloading capability, so bootloader integration into a PSoC Express application requires some customization. This application note from Cypress Semiconductor details the integration of an I2C bootloader implementing a protocol into a PSoC Express application. It also describes a UART-I2C bridge that interfaces the bootload target PSoC to a PC host application that serves as the source of an upgraded program.
