Stollmann's BlueFace+MPA development kit for Bluetooth integration projects has been enhanced to support both simple pairing and the new Enhanced Data Rate Bluetooth extension.

In technical terms, the kit now supports HFP 1.5, eSCO, and the current version 2.1 of the Bluetooth specification in addition to the previously supported profiles SPP and A2DP profiles.

BlueFace+MPA has also added support for concurrent utilization of several profiles and connections. Multiple application programs can log on to the Bluetooth interface and use it in parallel.

This feature lays the groundwork for potential applications such as MP3 players, GPS navigation, digital image frames, automotive applications, medical applications, headsets and many more.

BlueFace+MPA is a portable multi-profile API for simple Bluetooth integration. It constitutes the layer above the Bluetooth profiles and covers the entire Bluetooth stack.

Application programmers who use the kit do not need to address the details and intricacies of Bluetooth communications programming, but can restrict themselves to controlling the Bluetooth interface using a small number of simple commands.

Bluetooth integration is further simplified by a package of Bluetooth hardware and sample programs in source code.

BlueFace+MPA has been used in many Bluetooth integration projects over the past few years. Future developments will be the inclusion of the standardized BECI (Bluetooth Embedded Control Interface) currently being specified by the Bluetooth SIG. BlueFace+MPA already contains a number of important elements that will be included in these efforts.
