Vietnam gov't taps Cisco for network upgrade

The Vietnam Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and Cisco have joined hands to identify areas in which networking technologies and solutions to accelerate the socio-economic development of Vietnam.

Cisco will bring in its technical and business transformation experts to help the MIC migrate its current network to the latest platforms, paving the way for the implementation of an e-government program.

"Cisco is delighted to take our collaboration with the Vietnamese government to the next level. Cisco will work to bring not just the technologies and the solutions but also the expertise and the know-how to apply the technology in the areas that will help the ministry to achieve its goal of national transformation," said James Chia, director general for Cisco Vietnam.

Cisco will be able to tap a global resource of best practices from countries such as Canada, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States.
