Crystek Corp. expanded its line of ultralow phase noise, voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) with the introduction of a new coaxial resonator oscillator. Touted as the industry's smallest, the model CVCO38CC-3660-3700 VCO is housed in a 0.380in x 0.380in x 0.220in SMD package, offering a 42 percent space savings over the standard 0.5in x 0.5in package.

The CVCO38CC-3660-3700 operates from 3660MHz to 3700MHz with a tuning voltage range of 0.3Vdc to 4.7Vdc. The CVCO38CC family is available in models that operate from 2.2GHz to 4.4GHz bands. This coaxial VCO features a typical phase noise of -108.69dBc/Hz at 10KHz offset.

The coaxial crystal oscillator exhibits an output power of +4.0dBm typ into a 50? load with a supply of +5.0Vdc and a typical current consumption of 30mA. Pushing and pulling are both minimized to 1.0MHz/V and 2.5MHz, respectively. Second harmonic suppression is -15dBc typical. Applications include digital radio equipment, fixed wireless access, satellite communications systems and base stations.
