NXP tips NorDig-compliant STB solution

NXP Semiconductors announced that its STB100 T21 reference board is the first full digital terrestrial system-level solution to have passed the NorDig 1.0.3 verification test process. The NorDig 1.0.3 compliance will ensure that the STB100 reference board is capable of spectacular digital reception and offers OEMs a simple, affordable STB solution. For consumers, NXP's validated STB100 will, in turn, deliver superior picture and sound quality on mainstream STBs.

NXP's STB100 T21 reference board incorporates the highly integrated silicon tuner TDA18211, channel decoder for digital terrestrial receptionTDA10048, and the Nexperia MPEG source decoder, PNX8300all of which combined fulfill the RF performance requirements under the NorDig Unified Specification 1.0.3. tested and verified in Teracom's laboratory in Sweden. Designed for mainstream free-to-air or pay TV, the STB100 is a dedicated solution for single-channel digital STB 'Zapper Boxes' and iDTV systems.

During the NorDig 1.0.3 RF conformance tests conducted by Teracom, NXP's STB100 T21 reference board proved to be a well-designed, stable and reliable system-level solution delivering high-quality digital reception. The stringent standards enforced through NorDig-compliance enable manufacturers to address mainstream STB market demand quickly and cost-effectively, no matter which geography they are in.

Key features of NXP's STB100 T21 reference board include 24bit stereo audio DAC, on-board front panel (LED + IR receiver), RGB, CVBS and S-video outputs, and SPDIF digital audio output. Other features are optional smart card mounting, external or internal power supply and customized remote control.
