Analogix Semiconductor Inc. has filed an antitrust complaint against Silicon Image Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, including with respect to the latter's operation of its wholly owned subsidiaries HDMI Licensing LLC and Simplay Labs, wholly owned subsidiaries of Silicon Image.

Silicon Image the filing is in connection with the earlier lawsuit the company filed in January 2007 against Analogix in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, accusing Analogix of copyright infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, and unlawful business practices. The case is scheduled to go to trial in September. In its lawsuit, Silicon Image alleges that Analogix, without authorization and in violation of Silicon Image's intellectual property rights, copied and utilized Silicon Image's proprietary register maps and semiconductor configuration software.

"It is unfortunate that, as the trial date for our case against Analogix approaches, they have chosen to file a complaint against Silicon Image containing allegations that are without merit and an attempt to distract from the legitimate issues about Analogix's business practices raised in our litigation against the company," said Edward Lopez, chief legal officer of Silicon Image.
