Leadis beefs up linear regulator offering
Keywords:linear regulator? LDO? LDS1541P load current?
The LDS1541P replaces 1117-type LDOs, which have to use an external discrete switch to implement ENABLE and sequencing functions in multirail applications. Output voltage tolerance over the full operating load, line and temperature range is assured by the self-correcting AcuRef bandgap reference, yielding 1.5 percent overall accuracy. The SOT-223-3 package provides the ENABLE function within the standard footprint without compromising thermal performance. Built-in current limiting, overload and thermal shutdown with hysteresis provide robust operation without exceeding safe junction temperature limits. The LDS1541P, offered with 1.8V, 2.5V and 3.3V fixed or adjustable output, is stable with 1?F MLC filter capacitors. Applications for this versatile LDO include graphics cards, PC motherboards, LCD TV and SMPS post regulation.
"The number of power rails on a system card is increasing together with the requirement for active power management for increased energy efficiency," said Paul Greenland, senior director of power management marketing at Leadis. "The LDS1541P integrates the ENABLE function in a smaller solution footprint without sacrificing electrical or thermal performance, thereby liberating valuable system board area and increasing reliability."
