InterDigital Inc.'s wholly owned subsidiary, InterDigital Technology Corp. and Nokia Corp. have agreed to end two legal actions in the English Courts, concerning patents essential to the UMTS 3G mobile telephony standard.

Nokia had sued InterDigital Technology in the English High Court (UKII) on July 29, 2005 alleging that certain of InterDigital Technology's U.K. patents declared to the UMTS 3G standard were not essential to that standard.

InterDigital Technology then sued Nokia in UKII on Dec. 19, 2006 alleging that certain of Nokia U.K. patents declared to the UMTS 3G standard were not essential to that standard. Nokia Siemens Networks Oy was joined to the action on Oct. 17, 2007, as some of the Nokia patents in suit were transferred to Nokia Siemens.

The details of the agreement are confidential between the parties. Ongoing U.S. litigation between Nokia and InterDigital continues.
