Choose and use high-speed serial data analysis tools

Proven first-generation serial bus technologies are now widely deployed. New consumer products are coming out with PCIe, Serial ATA and other serial implementations built-in. These buses provide higher data rates than their parallel counterparts, while simplifying circuit layout.

Also, faster serial bus technologies like second and third generation serial bus architectures such as HDMI 1.3, SATA III and PCIe 2.0 are beginning to appear.

Serial bus technology has raised the bar in performance requirements for high-performance test and measurement instruments used in design, validation and troubleshooting. High data rates are only the beginning. Designers need better tools to support critical SI measurements and eye diagram analysis.
