OLED switches promise faster response

NKK Switches has released its OLED SmartSwitch and SmartDisplay high-resolution programmable switch and display families. Offering many advantages over conventional LCD programmable switches, these devices are said to deliver higher contrast and more brilliant pictures, 180 viewing angles, full colors, lower power consumption, faster response times and no backlighting requirements.

The OLED SmartSwitch and SmartDisplay are programmable pushbutton switches and displays that feature a programmable and changeable OLED module with 65,536 colors in 16bit mode, and 256 colors in 8bit mode. Both devices are capable of displaying full-motion video.

The OLED SmartSwitch and SmartDisplay are emissive devices operated by commands and data supplied via the SPI communications protocol. The switch is capable of 64 RGB x 48pixel resolution and the display 52 RGB x 36. The viewing area of the switch is 15.5mm x 11.6mm and the display is 12.9mm x 9.9mm (horizontal x vertical).

The devices are suited for a wide variety of applications requiring a GUI or real-time sequencing. Applications include A/V broadcast workstations, industrial control panels, medical equipment and communications systems.

Pricing starts at $44 at 100 pieces.
