Two firms tie up to boost LTE protocol verification
Keywords:LTE protocol? 3GPP? mobile? broadband?
3GPP LTE is seen to be very essential in the next-generation of mobile broadband products, especially in providing enhanced services to mobile users and accomplishing the vision of universal mobile connectivity. Both companies are working closely to respond to the technical challenges presented using the new standard.
Looking into the complicated interactions and data flows in the LTE MAC and Radio Link Control Layers, the ongoing project will provide solutions for any interoperability and standardization issues presented. The two firms will give the results of the current verification program through the 3GPP standardization process and integrate the recommendations in each company's future LTE products releases.
Stronger partnership
"This partnership is a result of the long standing relationship between engineers from Rohde & Schwarz and Qasara," added Rob Meades, chief operations officer, Qasara. "This enables the opportunity to enhance the products of both firms and promote in a large scale the deployment of LTE technology globally," he noted.
"Rohde & Schwarz is recognized in the field of wireless standards testing and verification. Meanwhile, Qasara's has shown expertise in highly optimized cellular protocol stacks deployed in cellular products. The synergies were visible from the start." said Michael Barkway, CEO, Qasara.
"The R&S Virtual Tester offers a dynamic environment for testing LTE UE protocol stack software. It is based on a fully 3GPP compliant reference implementation. Verification of interoperability between the Qasara LTE UE protocol stack implementation and the R&S Virtual Tester is very essential for the 3GPP LTE standardization," said Thomas Moosburger, head of R&D LTE protocol testers, Rohde & Schwarz.
