ZBA Inc. has introduced the BT44-DEV-KIT Bluetooth evaluation kit, which includes Bluetooth dongle access to the company's BT44 evaluation board. Designed for the BT44-191 surface-mount leadless chip carrier (LCC) module, it incorporates an antenna so designers only need to add power and a serial link.

ZBA also offers the BT44-191C module that provides a 12-pin, 2mm, dual-row connector (Samtec CLT106-02-L-D). This approach puts it on par with the Zigbee wireless standard, where modules are a common way to incorporate wireless support into an embedded design, said ZBA.

The kit also includes a CD loaded with IVT's BlueSoleil development tools in addition to documentation. The latter includes an Antenna Design Guidelines manual. The BT44-191 evaluation board provides access to all the interfaces on the module. This includes SPI, serial/RS-232, and audio. It also provides a large power switch and plenty of jumpers for configuration.

Pricing starts at $149 (special pricing through September) for single unit quantities. Devices are available for shipping from stock.
