Power LED emitters are efficient for lighting apps

Avago Technologies has introduced a 1W warm white Moonstone power LED emitter for use in a variety of architectural, commercial, spot light, task, backlighting, and decorative lighting applications.

Featuring a low profile, the ASMT-MY09 LED delivers a high flux output of up to 95 lumens at a 350mA drive current. This new warm white power LED will enable lighting application designers to achieve greater lumens output without sacrificing lumens per watt efficiency by using higher drive currents, Avago said.

Available in one of the industry's thinnest packages, the ASMT-MY09 is an energy-efficient LED emitter that's encapsulated in a heat and UV resistant silicon compound for high reliability and long life. The LED emitter provides a wide viewing angle radiation pattern and superior heat dissipation. The LED offers high reliability and is available in color temperatures ranging from 2,600K to 4,000K.

This high-performance device can handle high thermal and high drive current. With an exposed pad design on the back of the package, it exhibits low thermal resistance and is able to efficiently transfer heat from the package to the motherboard to maintain long term reliability, Avago said. The long-life LED is compatible with standard SMT reflow soldering processes and is lead-free and RoHS compliant.

Pricing starts at $2.68 each in quantities of 1,000. Samples and production quantities are available now.
