SiRF Technology Holdings Inc. has completed filing with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office respective Requests for Ex-Parte Reexamination of each of the four patents recently that Broadcom asserted against SiRF in the Santa Ana, California federal district court.

Through its respective Reexamination Requests and in view of substantial new questions of patentability raised by prior art not previously considered by the Patent Office, SiRF seeks review and invalidation of all four of the Broadcom patents-in-suit. Additionally, SiRF intends to seek a stay of the federal district court case.

In June, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has rejected claims by SiRF that two of its GPS patents were infringed by Global Locate, a company Broadcom acquired in July 2007. The ITC also found that the asserted claims of one of SiRF's patents at issue are invalid.
