Designers everywhere face ever-increasing constraints on system cost and power consumption, while at the same time being required to add more performance and functionality to their SoCs.

This is a difficult trade-off to address successfully.

The MIPS32 34K core family offers multi-threading capability on a single core, resulting in higher system performance, lower system cost and lower power consumption, while preserving current investments in the existing software infrastructure. Targeted at highly concurrent applications such as a set-top-box, VoIP, multifunction printers or digital TV, the 34K cores exploit system-level parallelism by processing multiple threads of software simultaneously.
