SVA Group to establish 6G TFT-LCD plant in Shanghai

The latest report on projects pending for approval by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of China includes the sixth-generation TFT-LCD production line project of Shanghai SVA Group. The project is expected to start construction in September.

This is according to a ChinaTechNews report, which stated that the company plans to invest CNY 17.455 billion (about $2.55 billion), of which CNY 475 million (about $69.5 million) will be used in environmental protection. The project is expected to have an annual chemical oxygen demand of 438.93 tons. The total amount index will be checked by the total amount index of Shanghai Bailonggang Wastewater Treatment Plant, the report said.

Located near the fifth-generation line of SVA NEC, the new facility will be build on a flat ground in Xinzhuang Industry Park, Minhang District, Shanghai. Upon the completion, the plant will become a core base for the production of LCD panels in Shanghai.

A representative form SVA Group disclosed that the plant is expected to start construction this year. The group is also reportedly undergoing technical cooperation negotiation with foreign firms including NEC and Sharp.
