Intel Capital invests in WiMAX service provider

Aicent Inc. has received funding from Intel Capital to accelerate its 3G and 4G global data roaming initiatives including mobile WiMAX. The investment will help drive WiMAX ecosystem development and service deployment worldwide and help ensure that a global, seamless mobile broadband footprint is achieved.

"The growing popularity of mobile data services combined with newer, faster network technologies has made mobile the primary communications platform for people in every corner of the world," said Lynn Liu, president and CEO of Aicent. "Because we live in a global society, it is imperative for wireless service providers to allow their roaming subscribers to bring their personalized mobile broadband experience with them. The investment from Intel Capital will allow Aicent to expand and accelerate our research and development of new interoperability technologies that support the broad adoption of WiMAX."
