SRS Labs Inc. and CSR plc have collaborated through CSR's extension partner program to develop PureSpeech, the new Bluetooth software that offers better audio clarity to Bluetooth mono headsets.

PureSpeech mixes SRS Labs' VIP+ software, which enhances audio quality at what you hear from your caller, with CSR's clear voice capture (CVC) noise reduction software, which improves audio quality at the far end or what your caller will hear. This new technology will be out ini the market from Q1 09 as an alternative for CSR's DSP-based BlueCore Multimedia Bluetooth silicon.

"CSR is an ideal partner for SRS to improve its offering of audio processing solutions to a wider range of Bluetooth audio products," said Alan Kraemer, chief technology officer, SRS Labs.

PureSpeech is a complete audio solution for Bluetooth makers that provide competitive advantage by improving sound clarity and tonal quality for both parties in a mobile phone conversation, even if one party does not have a PureSpeech-enabled headset or device. SRS VIP+ voice intelligibility processing software enables the user to hear the call even in noisy surroundings, by dynamically maximizing speech intelligibility through selective format enhancement. In addition, CSR's CVC software offers highly efficient reduction of noise around the speaker using a Bluetooth headset, enabling someone listening to the caller at the far end.

Anthony Murray, senior VP, wireless audio strategic business unit, CSR said: "Through CSR's extension partner program, CSR and SRS have worked together to develop PureSpeech, which will enhance the overall audio quality of both the sent and received audio of any Bluetooth headset using CSR's solution."

Since 2006, SRS has provided its WOW HD stereo enhancement technology to CSR's extension partner program of enhancements to the DSP on its BlueCore5 Multimedia IC. CSR's Multimedia platform is the only Bluetooth platform available which can support such third party audio enhancement software.
