EDA vendor Cadence Design Systems Inc. has launched an ARM hardware/software co-verification environment that the company believes will accelerate the system validation process for mutual customers of any two companies.

Cadence said ARM designers have used the Cadence Incisive Palladium III acceleration/emulation system for advanced processor development, enabling it for both in-circuit emulation and transaction-based acceleration.

It added that the new environment is designed according to a reference design that uses the Palladium III system, the ARM RealView Debugger, ARM processor IP and Cadence SpeedBridge adapters. This environment highlights audio/video playback and capture of audio video interleave and MP3 files, Web browsing, Linux boot and software debugging.

"The new environment, with emphasis on multimedia, graphics and network storage applications, helps our mutual customers to accelerate their system validation in ramping up these segments, along with the popular ARM processor-based handset market," said Peter Middleton, VP of engineering, processor division, ARM.

"This newly announced combined solution delivered by Cadence with ARM processor IP will enable customers to easily create a compact validation environment for the most complex designs in the market," said Narendra Konda, director of engineering, Nvidia Corp.
