Audio DSP ensures high-capacity, complex designs

Cirrus Logic's CS47048 audio SoC processor incorporates a 32bit audio DSP, high-performance multichannel audio codec and a digital audio receiver/transmitter in a compact IC. Tailored for high-capacity and cost-sensitive audio amplifier applications, the device is designed to help designers reduce component count and easily achieve system requirements without sacrificing audio quality.

The processor's four-channel ADC has a 105dB dynamic range and -98dB THD+N, and the eight-channel DACs offer 108dB of dynamic range and a -98dB THD+N. Improved sample rate conversions enable operation with audio sources at any sample rate up to 192kHz through either the on-chip 192kHz Sony/Philips Digital Interconnect Format receiver and transmitter or the standard serial audio ports.

The CS47048 is developed using the company's DSP Composer GUI development and preproduction tuning tool. Processing chains may be created using a drag-and-drop interface to place/use functional macro audio DSP primitives and custom audio filtering blocks, and the resulting software image is downloaded to the DSP via a serial control port.

The CS47048 is packaged in a 100-pin LQFP and priced at $6.12 in quantities of 10,000 with samples available in Q4.
