The company said the transceiver improves the signal integrity of uncompressed, HD, Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) 1080i/1080p signals as the data gets distorted through cables, connectors and backplanes. The VSC3406 integrates its signal integrity feature-set with Vitesse's VScope waveform viewing technology to allow real-time, economic monitoring functionality for live video feeds in broadcast video equipment.
Vitesse's VScope and CDR technology fits a wide range of equipment from broadcast video systems to networking/telecoms devices having a mix of both HD video and data traffic. The VSC3406 can transmit and receive SMPTE-compliant HD-serial digital interface (SDI) quality video signals at 1.5Gbit/s and 3Gbit/s while introducing new design options for equipment carrying video and data traffic. At the same time, the IC's VScope functionality enables a new level of visibility for system debug and remote monitoring across a full video router matrix. It is available in an 81-pin, 10mm x 10mm flip chip BGA package.
