Huawei unveils R&D, training centers in Indonesia

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd has launched its R&D center and training center in Jakarta, Indonesia Dec. 10, 2008.

The new R&D center is a wholly-owned unit of PT Huawei Tech Investment in Indonesia, and it involves around 40 local experienced engineers at the beginning stage. The R&D center will focus on developing customized application software design for the Indonesia market. This will enable Huawei to develop services that will benefit its operator partners, especially in content and value-added services (VAS).

Huawei also established a modern training center in Jakarta. The training center will have the next generation network equipments including NGN soft-switch, CDMA 1x and EVDO, core network, and access system. Both centers are located in Huawei Jakarta office.

"Our business in Indonesia is not only providing leading-edge solutions for our partners. We are also committed in sharing and training talented Indonesian engineers to grow together with Huawei in combined efforts to Indonesia's telecommunication industry," said Ma Yue, president director of PT Huawei Tech Investment.

Focus on R&D
Product R&D has remained responsive to projected and actual customer needs. With the goal of maximizing customer benefits and values, Huawei continuously improved its technologies, solutions and services. As part of an integrated product development processes, Huawei reinvested no less than 10 percent of sales revenue in R&D and 10 percent of the R&D budget in cutting-edge technologies and fundamental technologies every year. Huawei's R&D system is now applied worldwide and is located in the United States, Europe, India and throughout China.

The company understands the importance of providing cost-effective and value-added telecom solutions to support Indonesia's telecommunication infrastructures. A number of Huawei's products are already deployed in Indonesia including GSM, UMTS, CDMA, Transmission and Data, Access Network, Core Network, VAS and Terminal. Currently, Huawei employs 1,200 in Indonesia and over 80 percent are local employees.
